On 18 October our ship Mare Jonio disembarked the 69 people rescued in the Central Mediterranean at the port of Trapani.
For refusing to hand over 69 shipwrecks to the so-called Libyan Coast Guard, the Mare Jonio was blocked for 20 days and sanctioned with a fine of up to 10 thousand euros. After having rescued those lives we could not hand over the rescued people to the militias who would have taken them back to the detention camps from which they escaped and whose marks they bore on their bodies.
Help us pay the fine and support the legal costs, even a small donation is a step towards restarting the Mare Jonio.
