Mission 16 of the MARE JONIO ended with 56 people rescued despite the attack by the so-called Libyan coast guard.

Mediterranea has been sanctioned with a 10 thousand euro fine and 20 days of administrative detention for "putting people in danger at sea".

We will not remain silent: we want to appeal against the administrative detention and denounce this violence and these unfounded accusations!
Funds and resources are needed to obtain justice, but we don't intend to give up: together we can do it!

MEDITERRANEA Saving Humans

Mediterranea was born in 2018 from individuals, organizations and associations who chose not to accept the deaths and violations of rights committed every day in the Mediterranean Sea. While European governments hindered and criminalized rescue and solidarity, we united to put a ship into sea, bear witness to what is happening in the central Mediterranean, denounce rights violations and defend our humanity.
We have done so while always respecting the rules of international law. Including those that require, where necessary, the saving of human life.
