Mediterranea Saving Humans

Mediterranea was founded in 2018 by individuals, organizations and associations who have chosen to stand against the deaths and the human rights violations committed every day in the Mediterranean Sea. While European governments were hindering rescue missions and criminalizing solidarity, we came together to buy a ship and set it off to monitor and witness what is happening in the central Mediterranean, denounce the human rights violations and defend our humanity. We did so while always respecting the rules of international law. Including those that require, where necessary, rescuing human lives.
